Description

  • Understand the application of basic sciences and methods of research in cellular biology, physiology, biology, and bioprocess engineering.
  • Use investigation skills, including translational investigation, critical thinking, security practices at laboratory and experimental planning.
  • Design of experiments, from the problem identification to results interpretation.
  • Critically analyze the results and data with advanced statistic tools such as bioinformatics, and storage and data management (data mining).
  • Communicate effectively by speaking and writing with its colleagues: mentors, investigators, society, and sponsors.
  • Take decisions with scientific criteria and critical thinking in its practice as an investigator by following the legal and ethical dispositions, as well as governmental regulations.

The goal is to instruct scientists capable of generating innovative knowledge and establish innovative and cutting-edge technologies that meet the biotechnology demand in the alimentary, agricultural, pharmaceutical and medical sectors.  

The program is designed for graduates in biotechnology, agriculture, food industry, chemistry and pharmacy. The candidate must enroll full time, and should have oral and written communication skills, as well as an interest for research.  

Graduates of the PhD in Biotechnology are scientists capable of producing innovative biological knowledge as well as understanding basic life sciences phenomena. The graduate can create relevant technologies for the food and pharmaceutical industry and participate as a leader or collaborator in national and international research groups from the following areas: nutraceuticals, biopharmaceutics, bioinformatics, bioprocesses, cardiovascular sciences, stem cell biology, biomedical devices, biophysics, immunology and metabolism, among others. The results of their findings should be review in order to be published in Congresses, as articles in indexed journals or as patents. This transfer of knowledge, as well as professional achievements, should follow legal, ethical. and official standards.
